ARTISTS OF AINAD

ARTIST
Mr. Shafique Farooqi
“My paintings are formed out of my impressions, observations and my emotional experiences I see reality as an endless process of conflicts and decisions, therefore the tonality of experience can never be resolved in a definite way. The texture of life is like the surface of a block of clay; it is shaped and molded by the circumstances of daily conflicts, personal and collective catastrophes and individual questioning. My work lives on this quest until it becomes a rite of realizations, a struggle for the possibility to order the sensation of consciousness”.
Muhammad Shafique Farooqi

ARTIST
Mr. Nissar Ahmed
An artist that diligently and consistently practices to produce art that has attracted many connoisseurs in the country. His canvases are dominated by sensuous female figures, usually in unique profiles, surrounded by very decorative patterns and designs. Female figures are juxtaposed by the image of sparrow like imaginable birds.. He believes that women and birds have similar anguish in our society, both struggle to come out of a cage placed by our society.

ARTIST
Mr. Anees Adam
I come from Doag, a tiny village in Wana, South Waziristan, which is located between a circle of mountains near the Afghan border. This is where I graduated high school and where I lived and survived the first seventeen years of my life. During this time I experienced firsthand everything that war and conflict brought to the neighbourhood. At the end of 2020, after two years of college, I started my bachelors in History but due to personal reasons, the family’s financial status, and my anxiety I had to quit and leave for Wana. I am twenty years old; a self-taught writer and I started my photography career around March 2021. Photography allows me to see life all around anew, and to be able to really observe and look, to get close to the people and see them, to exist in the present. For me, street photography is very much like life, you expect on every turn and corner that the beauty of it will happen to you, and it does, that's what I prefer to call the aesthetics of chance. Just like life there is the anticipation and curiousity about, 'what's next?'

ARTIST
Ms. Aiman Memon
A recent graduate of the Lyceum, Karachi - Aiman is a self taught artist fuelled by the artist-activist combination. For her, art is the synthesis of a revolution: a means to catalyse change. Having grown up in Pakistan, the identities of class, gender, and ethnicity, set against a colonial backdrop were placed upon her: a complex socio-political milieu. Through her personal identity and the identity of others, she saw the ways in which social notions dictate our lives. As an artist with close ties to the activist spheres in Pakistan, she saw how there was a blatant absence of voices like hers in the country and how systematic structures discriminate against certain genders, sects, classes and socioeconomic backgrounds. In an attempt to dissect these narratives and ideas through an interdisciplinary lens, combining renaissance art influences (Vinci and Titian) with contemporary subjects, she paints a vivid culmination of her experiences.
